Apparently alcohol does a grand job of absorbing radiation.Originally posted by DimPrawnI'd obviously wrap myself in tin foil and hold my breath at the same time to prevent harm from the radiation.
And I read this a long time ago so it wasnt something I overheard in the pub in Hamilton.
So downing a bottle of spirits before the bomb goes off is not only fun but will help you to reduce the amount of radiation fallout that your body is exposed to.
PS Do be careful drinking a bottle of spirits too quickly can lead to death
PSP Dont try this at home kidsLast edited by AlfredJPruffock; 27 July 2006, 08:44.

Yes this is tue, certainly according to that chap in the boozers in Hamilton.
Just goes to show you shouldnt get too worried about nuclear weapons altough you will need to be quick of your mark to make sure you are standing under the epicentre of the nuke.
Get the position wrong and you wont have the chance for another go.

In the event of a detonation in your proximity, you MUST open your mouth to equalise the pressure of the detonation wave between your eardrums and mouth as it approaches you.Originally posted by DimPrawnI'd obviously wrap myself in tin foil and hold my breath at the same time to prevent harm from the radiation.
Otherwise you will increase your chance of having a perforated eardrum and risk permament deafness.
That's why you say the old army adage (in the event of a gas attack or similar detonation: "Be in time, mask in nine [seconds]" shouting "GAS GAS GAS" to evacuate the gas as you put on your NBC mask.
Then breath normally. FFS! after all that? I'd be lucky enough not to smell the shit in my underwear...

That's a bloody good idea. Buy a medium sized safe and climb in just before the attack.
This might do. On ebay now for £15 start bid.
