    Inspection is not the same as actually playing. Yep, sportspeople sometimes blame the surface, but at that level they also tend to prepare for the circumstances very well; that's one of the things that makes them top sportspeople.

    Anyway, why am I getting into a discussion about a sport that I dont even like? Could it be something to do with tall blonde girls with skimpy clothing?

    One imagines they inspect the courts BEFORE play starts and therefore don't feel the need to investigate. Every year you see people sliding all over the place when the courts are virgin... and how many of the retirees have actually blamed the court anyway? Every year (as someone who watches the tournament fairly closely) players blame the court for being too fast or slow or slippery or dry... it's what sportsmen do!

    Also possible, but I don't like the attitude of complete denial sown by the officials; it could well be a statistical anomaly, but it's still worth investigating.
