Requesting his release from custody at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission, Qatada's lawyer Daniel Friedman QC said his client was a "proud and dignified man" who "has been deprived of his liberty more than any other non-convicted person in British history".
Isn't this human rights stuff a total nonsense? In an overcrowded world few things are without effect on others so there has to be a balance of rights for all, one person's cannot trump everyone else's. Liberty within Britain should be for British nationals, for those who have contributed significantly to Britain or otherwise for those to whom we chose to allow it.

Non-citizens who are not convicted of anything or wanted by a third nation should be entirely at liberty to return to their own countries of course.
