I could probably rustle up some prog rock synth arpeggios. Someone will need to write the chords down for me though....

It seems that some of us have the required kit and it can of course be done remotely.
1. Create a basic track.
2. Send it to the next person to add another rack.
3. Rinse & repeat
4. Mix it down
5. Expose it to ridicule on CUK
Any takers?

Recently I've just been playing the piano. Classically trained, by that I mean piano grade exams etc, and I mainly play Baroque, Classical and early Romantic period music. Mozart is my main composer so you could say I mainly do Mozart coversOriginally posted by Cliphead View PostDo you write or just gig covers / play at home? Where do you publish / showcase your music?
I also write piano music, just for me, never thought about publishing.
I've got a room upstairs full of kit. Got a Tascam 2488 and a couple of synths, drum machines, FXs, bass etc and sometimes go up and put some stuff together. Good fun.
But the piano is my 'passion' I would say and I just play at home. Fantastic way to relax. Well I like to think so. Her indoors sometimes disagrees when I'm belting out some Beethoven and she's trying to yap on the phone.

I play with my machines for my own pleasure. I rarely produce a finished article. I doubt many people would want to listen to one of my three hour acid jams anyway...

A difficult market to get in to. I have a friend who does that full time but he just about breaks even and it took him years to get to that point.Originally posted by d000hg View PostMy brother's trying to get into music for video games but is going the "do some free work in the hope of publicity" route. Apparently one of his games is #10 in iTunes so hopefully that's a turning point - Cliphead you know anything about that market?
Only thing to do is to keep submitting music to the various games companies and hope for the best. A common (wrong), assumption is that some producer will hear a track and want to use it but this almost never happens, if you get commissioned to write music for a game or whatever the director / producer will dicatate what they want so you'd be composing from scratch (and constantly changing), and be expected to have it wrapped up in days.

Did rock/pop covers in my old band for pubs, clubs, weddings etc
Not very good at writing my own stuff as I cannot sing very well.
However, this weekend I'm meeting up with my old band guitarist to try out his vocaliser and sort some stuff out for open mike stuff. Quite nervous to be honest!
