It's very normal over there to wear them backwards. And sideways...
Even men in their 60s wear them like that. Doesn't offend me particularly but I don't get offended by things like that.

Bloke goes into a sports shop and asks about buying a baseball cap. The shop asiistant takes him over to the rack of caps and passes him one which he puts on. Gives it back say ing he doesn't like it. Anothe cap is proffered and the same happens, he doesn't like it. This continues for a while and the customer doesn't like any of them so the salesman asks him why: "because the peak is on the wrong way round!"
