    Women will do very nicely in any motorsport. All the time I am driving along nicely on M25 and find a Audi or Merc flashing me and tail gating me, its almost always a woman.

    Indeed, it would certainly get them masses of free media attention regardless how crap she was... you'd think a team like Marussia or Caterham have nothing to lose in that regard.

    We already have 1.5 female team bosses so maybe one of them will push for female drivers.

    You'd think if anything a female driver would have an advantage by being able to attract different sponsors. It'd be a bit crap if she ended up being sponsored by Tampax or something similar, but it could happen.

After the half-dozen get in on merit, the other 16 seats are filled from those 100... so clearly you take the ones who have other qualities beyond being great drivers. Teams have the luxury of choice, beyond the Vettels, Hamiltons and Alonsos at least.

    The skill argument isn't necessarily true. Quite often F1 is about how rich your parents are and in some cases how much money they can bring in. There were many excellent drivers in the lower formulas that were never given the chance even when they bested some of the so called top drivers in F1. No wonder they don't want to let talented women in!
