Maybe it was just too high brow for you snaw?
There are lots of stories about sledging in rugger...Zinzan Brooke holding up 4 fingers (to indicate how many games played and how many wins the AB's had in the series) to the bok forward packing and then saying "sorry, forgot you guys cant count"
Or my cricket captain in NZ to one of our bowlers "you do that again and Ill drop you"...so the bowler did it again and our captain dropped him...literally, on the spot dropped him
Needless to say, the bowler never did that again

Originally posted by snawMaybe in cricket it goes on all the time, but not in football - someone tries that crap on me when I'm playing and they're likley to be on the recieving end of a smack as well (Not that I actually would, but if you got nasty enough I'd be very tempted). And none of those things are aceptable IMO.

Don't hold your breath for anything sensible. FIFA haven't done anything about diving after 32 years of it in the world cup.
Sepp Blatter says he won't do anything that cannot be applied to all levels of football. As that includes the Watford Sunday League, and as I suspect there aren't lip-readers at every game in Watford on the Sabbath, he cannot therefore advocate their use in Zidane's case.
Anyway, if you are going to punish racial slurs, why not slurs against one's mother or wife? Or one's religion? Or one's ginger hair, skinny legs, ugly face, short neck, fat gut, little willy, big bollox, knobbly knees, porno moustache, dodgy tattoo, sticky-out ears or cross-eyes?

Zidane was a plonker.
He not reacted, played the game, won the World Cup and then have words with Mattarazi in the car park.

Piara Powar, national co-ordinator for the anti-racism group Kick It Out told Five Live, said: "If there was a racial slur then Fifa needs to act."
Keith Hackett, head of referees in England, said that if it can be proved that Matterazzi racially abused the Frenchman, then Fifa should take retrospective action for "the good of the game".
