Try asking darmstadt, or Chef, or blasterbates, or Sysman for a bit of advice.

I haven't worked in EU for a while but if I remember rightly my first gig I negotiated to be paid in Sterling and worked through my UK Ltd paying tax in the UK. There was a six month grace period before I had to put my head above the parapet with the local tax authorities but got around that with a stint in another EU country before going back to the original gig.

In summary, I don't remember the need for foreign accountancy services and just carried on as normal as I would in the UK. Agencies at that time were much better than now so flights and accommodation for interview and heading over for the gig were paid by them. I had an open biz class return ticket - start and end of gig, if I wanted to come home for weekends that was my shout and rightly so.

Rates were good in those days so no question about heading over, best coupla years contracting ever as the ClientCo's were great to work for.

I'm in business to make a profit. If the costs of taking on a contract outweigh any acceptable profit margin then fook that.

Really close to not going as this is looking far too risky. Also fronting the cost of the flights, accommodation, Legal fees to straighten out this ******* contract mess and do the IR35 checks and now needing the services of a German account as well as my own accountant have nearly wiped out the first months fees.

    EU, "union" , my arse.
