    You need to put in your actual metred usage... providers monkey around to try and balance out your annual payment against fluctuating summer/winter usage. So you really need 12 months' data to have a proper basis for comparison.

    I think they overestimate too... last time we switched we got a nice £350 cheque back from the old supplier.

    I think that's the problem - what you pay doesn't necessarily reflect your usage. I've just done a meter reading, so hopefully will get a better idea.

    Likewise. I switched providers last year but CEC says I can save £185 pa. (albeit on an estimated usage) I'm gonna get my bills and put in the actual figures and see what happens.

    It's a good idea but I'm not really seeing how it turns things upside down... the kind of people who will sign up are the kind who probably already shop around anyway.

    Definitely plan to take a proper look though, and if enough people sign up that they get some muscle (anyone remember the failed fuel card group that was around a while back?) all the better.
