Family haven't got a clue. Which pisses me off when they think anyone who works in computers must know exactly how to fix every bit of hardware ever made and must know exactly how to perform some obscure function in MS word.

And have you ever noticed how everyone thinks you fixing their computer must be completely free?

Had a mate who I built a PC for, cost price, installed software for him the lot, even sorted it out when he had problems. Included deleting porn and history off his PC so mrs wouldnt find it when he was in a flap one night!

He was a cobbler. Asked him to cut me spare car key - £12 please (the blanks literally cost 20p apparently). Nice one mate. His argument - it took time to do and he had to pay for the key cutting machine...... Ummm, OK.

Yes, been a victim of that. "I don't work with PCs" gets rid of a lot of that.

There's another side to the coin in the form of the nephew who "is terribly good with computers" and therefore has some kind of divine right to start messing around with your kit.

Christmas last year a mate saw his nephew getting increasingly frustrated that he couldn't break into a laptop. Apparently it quite made up for the hassle of putting up with the obnoxious brother in law.

My 8 year daughter know exactly what I do and who I currently work for I was quite astounded as I never expected her to have a clue, she's told all her teachers too. She is without a doubt my number 1 fan
