Realistically if they were to ever try again they would lack the element of surprise necessary to overrun the airfield which is their only chance of holding the island. With that intact we could build up our forces quickly.

This is an interesting site - where you can compare the military between countries

    Blimey

How Britain's current military forces compare to 1982

Rapier showed itself in 1982 to be pretty much a pile of poo - of course the later version is much better blah blah

Nah, arms exports will be safe as long as bribes go up.

If the Argies did manage to occupy the Falklands and if, for either military or political/diplomatic reasons, Britain was unable to reoccupy them it would obviously be disastrous for whichever party was in power.

    Warped logic.
Not sure where you extrapolated that from but no fighting tooth & nail from me for

    The Falklands
    Gibraltar
    St Helena
    Turks and Caicos
    Bermuda
or any of the overseas territories

Well according to reports something is being done and Defence Chiefs are coming up with a new plan

Could be just a usual review, could be something else - no doubt whatever is done the Argentinians will see it as provocative
It is understood that additional troops, another warship and extra RAF Typhoon combat aircraft could be dispatched to the region ahead of the March referendum on the Falkland Islands’ future
But my point was the alarming reduction in British Forces since 1982 which appears to have completely passed you by

Sometimes you make SB look good

[B]Britain is prepared to send additional military backup to the South Atlantic as a 'show of force' to Argentina over the Falkland Islands.

It is understood an extra warship, another RAF Tycoon combat aircraft and further troops could be dispatched to the region ahead of the March referendum over whether the islands remain part of the UK.

According to the Sunday Telegraph, the options being proposed by planners at the Permanent Joint Headquarters in Northwood, London, include conducting naval exercises in the region.

I worked for a start up about 10 years ago, the marketing director had a sniff of sale with an Argentinian company and some female rep from the place comes over to check the business and to tie up a deal, he ends up taking her out to an Argentinian steak house. Company went bust 2 year later.

They have lots of fray bentos pies. Who needs computers when they have perfected the most tulipe pastry meat meal the world has ever known.
