We try and alternate Xmas here with family, and then Xmas away.
As for it not feeling like Xmas, I would have thought that one of the main attractions.
Choices:
Caribbean - We love it here, any of the islands, although would possibly skip Haiti and Jamaica. Some of the Hispanic/Catholic ones will shut down for the actual dates, so make sure you have adequate food and drink (AI).
Sri Lanka - Possibly my favourite place to go at anytime, as it's awesome, although getting touristy now. Head north and you'll have a ball. Poya will be sometime over your stay and that's quite special.
Aus - A lot of fun, an awful lot of fun. Same for NZ.
Went to SA in the 80's, but wouldn't have a clue what it was like now.
2013 we're back off to St Lucia which we think one of the nicest islands out that way.

I bought a pack of ten Christmas cards on special offer this year, so I've already got next year sorted as far as that goes.
The remaining bits'n'bobs can be picked up around 16:30 next December 24, so I can relax for a bit now

Ordered all the gifts for Christmas 2013
