I've had exactly the same problem with spreadsheets sent to me. List of tables to restore to test, pleasantly suprised to find it was only 50-odd, discovered the other several hundred later.
Also, they invariably create their spreadsheets with their paper size set to letter, I invariably forget to change it before printing, and only remember when I'm standing by the printer wondering why it hasn't appeared. (I think some printers can be set to override paper size and scale documents automatically, ours just refuses to print. )

LOL, that’s about right; working in the commercial aspect of construction: EVERYTHING is in excel (even letter templates) with lots of pretty colours & merged cellsOriginally posted by OwlHoot View PostPeople who want to do everything on spreadsheets aren't entirely normal IMHO, especially when many of the cells are different sizes and colours, like a ransom note.
Oh god yes we have a commercial reporting system over 3 spread sheets, all linked to each other, it was funny when I upset the powers that be by negating the password protection to correct a formulaic error (my report was the only one that was correct) They were most distraught to learn that passwords are not really secureOriginally posted by escapeUK View PostClientco likes to take spreadsheets far further than they ever should be, with a spreadsheet linking to another one,

A meeting about 430 rows of comments? Id lose the will to live there.
Clientco likes to take spreadsheets far further than they ever should be, with a spreadsheet linking to another one, which links to a database etc etc. They very rarely work correctly, but more often than not they work and give an answer but sadly its the wrong one and working through it to find out why takes hours.

Hallo SAS/Malc,
So the woanders and complexities of SAS are starting to stretch you then?
Is this the "writing a book" retirement practice you spoke about?

I've been known to miss pages after the first on multi-page spreadsheets.

I think the term WGAS was thought up just for moments such as this.

Are you too stupid to read actual row numbers on the left?Originally posted by Malcolm Buggeridge View PostExcel has (to me, at least) a very annoying feature whereby it saves its scroll state so when I opened the file and started on what I thought was row 1 I was, in fact, on row 400 or so because it had been saved whilst scrolled nearly all the to the bottom.
