Disagree. Trevor Phillips is a bright and fair minded chap, the only head of the CRE to make one (almost) think it is a worthwhile organisation.
He is very far from being one of those PC or "minorities are always right" sorts. You forget earlier in the year over the cartoons, he defended free speech. He has also said that those wanting Shariah law in the UK should leave. In 2002 he was the one pressing for action on the African AIDS epidemic in the UK, he said it was too serious to be hushed up for the usual reasons. He was ignored and now we have this 1% of the population accounting for 25% of cases and almost all the new infections in the UK.
He is also right to warn of the problems now if nothing is done to reduce tensions. His greatest failing seems to be that everyone of any importance ignores him.
Great pity. He is an excellent bloke.

LOL! No, he probably has in mind other people taking a later place in the queue for a job. Mind you, there must be plenty of devout muslims who are also good Britich citizens and who might make good coppers. If they don't get put off by being shot first.Originally posted by mcquiggdMaybe he should stand down from his very highly paid position and let a muslim be appointed in his place, if he feels so strongly about it.
No, didn't think he would.

Trevor Philips either hasn't got a clue or is just milking his gravy train some more. He never, ever has the remotest sense of balance in his opinions.
So to answer your question Troll, Trevor Philips is on 'planet Gravy train'.

What he is trying to get at is right, encourage more muslims (and other ethnicities) to get in to the police force.
How he is going about it is pc rubbish at its best (or worst
).

At least we can still insult the Welsh as they are officially not a race.
I think I'd better move back a bit.

While we are at it, we need to see more diversification in the campaign for racial equality. It should be about 85% white if it is to properly reflect the country.

Race law update needed, Phillips
Trevor Phillips, chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality
Britain's race laws need updating to help in the battle against terrorism, the chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) has said.
Trevor Phillips has called for a debate on positive discrimination in favour of Muslims applying to join the police.
In a speech to be delivered on Monday he will question whether the police are "fit for purpose" for anti-terror campaigns.
He will also say race relation laws are stopping diversification in the police.
Mr Phillips will emphasise that it is not just a matter of fairness and equality, but an issue of national security.Tags: None
