    Superb

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to SimonMac again.

I currently have 11 recommendations on LI and feel they all accurately describe how much of a legend I am

I'm not sure I'd give much heed to endorsements, isn't it just "Bob says Paul really can use Java, it's not a big fat lie"?

Recommendations are far more valuable, they're also relatively hard to get because they take time to write. A nice collection of LI recommendations is a good thing to nurture.

They are linked with other sites so you can give them permission to trawl your email address book. They then send out link to messages to every fecker and his missus, whether they are on Linkedin or not. Same goes for Facebook.

That's one reason I've never got into FaceBook - being constantly badgered with an endless list of people I might want to add to my contacts or whatever they call it, and no button against each to say "No - forget this one".

I imagine the reason is that storing loads of user pairs who _don't_ know each other has far more overhead than pairs of those who do.

PS: Bugger, I + repped the wrong post above. Still, at least I got the right FM.
Not to worry - Just give doog a -ve rep for his clientco-unfriendly .sig (I would again, but I need to spread some around first)

Thing is it is still a bit of a farce isn't it, just because someone endorses you for a particular skill it doesn't mean you're any good. Whereas recommendations are a lot better because they're more personal.

But I highlighted the error without changing it so you could more easily identify it. Had I changed it, you would have had to refer to your original.

(e.g., those bloody annoying repeated "reminders" you get if you're not a member and you "forget" to accept an invitation someone sends you. Funny how they never thought to add an "Actually, I meant to ignore you, now piss off" button to such reminders).

Never let it be said that I don't recognise how to identify stakeholders
