You don't get paid for skill but for what the market can stand. Solicitors and doctors charge a lot because if they didn't, people wouldn't spend nearly 10 years getting qualified.

Not for the level of experience and skill the position demands (according to the ad)

Solicitors charge anything up to 200 or 300 pounds an hour, and is a senior PM any less skilled in their own way?

Very apologetic and sounded as pissed off as I was but insisted that is what the client is looking for. Pointed out only bobs would consider that rate and she just sighed. Actually felt sorry for her at the end.

Agents are not pleased with this carry on either it seems.

At least it won't be caught under the new public sector rules with a rate like that.

Worrying that the public sector may want to import a workforce at the expense of an existing domicilied workforce if it is a way to recruit Bob

I did and she apologised profusely and admitted she isn't going to get anyone at that rate... I could live with more agents like this.

Another possible (but much less likely) explanation is that they're content for someone to work from home and anticipate only two or three hours a day would be needed to keep everything ticking over.

If that is so then it might suddenly look quite an attractive rate for someone already working from home on something else.
