ISTR we had a punt in Oxford, was about £30 if I recall. My tip is to sit in the back of the boat with a glass of champagne and a cucumber sandwich whilst some student type at the other end of the canoe thingy does all the hard work with the punt.

I have heard its very easy, you need to find a club and be able to steer a boat. Something like that.

Cambridge is good. The main tip is that you may feel the urge to cling on to the pole if it gets stuck. Let go and then go back to recover the pole once you are stable.

Having sat in a pub in Cambridge watching the unseaworthy wend there way along the river, my main recommendation would be to take a towel and a change of clothes, and learn to swim.

    Have fun.
