    I used to live there, and yes it is a dump though. However while there are lots of really deprived little towns like this in the NE, there are also lots of lovely little villages. Houses in the latter cost 5X as much as the former of course... you can easily buy a property in somewhere like Ferryhill for £40k.

    And I'd say Darlo is a dump too, Durham is the gem of the NE although there are some nice smaller towns dotted around.

    Indeed. You see those kind of houses go for £10-20k all the time in the NE.

    By property pundits I assume they mean the selling agent trying to push a property with drug dealers next door and would be better off demolished.
