We moved away from shuttlecocks to sharp stones hit with badminton raquets at 200+ mph.

A longbow would be better, but ammo wouldn't be as plentiful. Just wondering, did the ancient greeks have longbows? All the pictures I've seen are those piddly little ones.

Handy if you have a pile of sharp stones. The Romans used Balearic sling shotters as auxiliary troops who were handy swimmers as well for attacks across rivers.

'OK herky, I'll race you 30 miles to Marathon, whoever gets there first is King of the castle all day'
'Fck off Sparty, you know I have to be here tonight so I can slip Aphrodite a greek sausage'
'How about throwing the javelin then, or heading the shot?'
'Tell you what Sparty, hows about a quick ponce about with my gaylord shuttlecock?'
