Socialism has nothing to do with philanthropy. A social conscious is nothing to do with socialism although socialists like to think that wearing the badge makes them show that they do indeed have a social conscience.Originally posted by Scoobos View PostYou have a lot to learn.. In response to the OP - Isn't another word for a rich socialist a philantropist ? Seriously though, I think he may do well.
A socialist is someone who has nothing and wants to share it with everyone else.. I am off again

Yes, and the private sector did an excellent job too didn't they? G4S , the difference being that they took a shed load more cash - 20+ mil of it in "Management fees" for mismanagement.

He can do what he likes as long as he does'nt go around preaching about using state schools and foisting shoddy public services on the rest of the population who cannot afford to get out of the public service trap.Originally posted by d000hg View PostAre you saying a socialist should deliberately take a low-paying job? Being a socialist doesn't make it a socialist world, living in one system while desiring another isn't a problem.

His featherbedded existence hardly puts him on the same wavelength as 'the workers'. It's a bit like programming after only having read books. Moreover, his old man is hardly a solid moral compass. One Blair was enough for me.Originally posted by d000hg View PostAre you saying a socialist should deliberately take a low-paying job? When an esteemed member of a Surrey branch of the Labour Party died, it was felt that in accordance with socialist principles, the oldest car of the representatives should be used to attend the funeral.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostWhere exactly does high pay fit in with socialist ideology?

He looks like a complete twat with that bum-fluff on his face. One of those faces that you would never tire of punching, just like his dad's.

Botany is a respectable science. I once had an entomologist as a manger. He was okay, but obviously wouldn't be doing anything too logically demanding.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostDegrees don't always relate to job. Certainly that was the case while only 13% of the population had degrees. My first boss, Mr Tulip, had a degree in botany. Yes - he was a crap manager as well.

I don't see a contradiction with having a high-paid job and being a socialist;
