It was interesting from a historical perspective, imagining what it would have been like for captain James Cook (et al.) timing it in Tahiti. One of the streaming links I gave were going to go through the calculations they would ave done back in Blighty, at some point during the 7 hour streaming, but I didn't stick around long enough, but it was good.Originally posted by Doggy Styles View PostI missed it. You can see how difficult it was for Cook to gauge second contact (Venus inside the Sun) accurately, as Venus smears into a teardrop shape at the interface, for about a minute IMO in this case.

Exquisite bad timing for the UK. A seven hour transit starting not long after after sunset and we just get to see the tail end of it in the early morning. If it doesn't cloud over.
