I very much enjoyed what I can remember. Will be watching it again on “catch-up” to fill in the blanks. The history was fascinating.

It was interesting from a historical perspective, imagining what it would have been like for captain James Cook (et al.) timing it in Tahiti. One of the streaming links I gave were going to go through the calculations they would ave done back in Blighty, at some point during the 7 hour streaming, but I didn't stick around long enough, but it was good.

I got a great photo last time, projecting the sun through one lens of a pair of binoculars onto a white sheet. Hmm. overcast here until noon.

You can see how difficult it was for Cook to gauge second contact (Venus inside the Sun) accurately, as Venus smears into a teardrop shape at the interface, for about a minute IMO in this case.

Exquisite bad timing for the UK. A seven hour transit starting not long after after sunset and we just get to see the tail end of it in the early morning. If it doesn't cloud over.

It looks like it's going to be cloudy so I guess the chances of seeing it here is pretty remote.

I'll wait for the next one.
