Roy Keane missed a final in 1999 through suspension but would never have done that. It was too embarrassing. I can imagine what he thought of Terry.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about this final was Terry sneaking on the pitch in full kit, including shinpads, sneaking up the steps, and being awarded the trophy. And to listen to him afterwards you'd think he'd just played a leading part in beating Bayern.

I can't believe he got away with this. He was in full suit and boots during the match. He must have gone and changed. I genuinely didn't think my opinion of him, could have sunk lower. I was wrong.

I'm referring to his persona.

I don't like the bloke at all but he'll be remembered as a very good player and leader on the pitch, especially at Chelsea where he is possibly the best centre back in their history.

I think if Chelski had won the CL playing silky stylish football people would be more complimentary, but fair play they had a plan and stuck to it. People have a go at Stoke's long ball game but to be a successful side you have to learn how to combat those teams/tactics, plan B/C/D and all that, it takes all sorts of teams to win (and lose) matches, cups, etc.

What surprised me was Zee Germans failing to defend their goal for another 8 minutes.

I just can't stand Chelski and their plastic flag waving fans, even before Roman and his Roubles landed.

On it's own I agree there were many better finals (United 99 being the best in my eyes). It was more the backstory, the fact that Chelsea were down and out against Napoli and then they came back to beat Benfica, Barca and then Bayern (just noticed they all start with B's this could be a LOST moment). Also the fact it was all done by Di Matteo is just astounding.

It's a good story, yes, agreed.

From what I recall, football is called the beautiful game, for a few reasons, none of which Chelsea have demonstrated this year. Throwing long balls forward for the old thespian Drogba to hold on to, isn't nice to watch.

Were it not for a profligate Messi/Barca and equally Bayern, they'd have been outclassed and it was an awful advert for English football. Awful.

As for the best you've seen, I'll echo someone elses observation that you obviously haven't watched many then.

Did tactics win the match ? - yes
Did the best team win ? the best defence won.
It can't be all out attacking as you will get battered as Man U got against barca.

Might sounds trite, but as a United fan, I applauded Barca after that game. About as unplayable as a team have been.

I am not even that sure your third point is right. I think Bayern didn't finish well, not that Chelsea defended well.

It can't be all out attack all the time, but as a neutral, you want a good match. This wasn't a good match, imo.

Anti-football? Chelsea winning is what football is all about. Under dogs all the way through and still managed to win the title. Amazing really and the most enjoyable CL I have witnessed. Why should football always be about the better style (i.e. Barca) winning as expected and destroying all of it's opposition on the way? Is it not more interesting and exciting to see a weaker club defie all odds to get to the final and win?
