MrsF doesn't want to go on a cruise - she doesn't like water and doesn't like boats.

When I moved to America, we went across on the QE2, so I keep trying to persuade her to try going, but it's not happening.

Anyway, it's all booked now - although I still have enough points for another trip, but don't have anywhere to palm the kids off to for another week. Oh well.

Quite envious, sounds a lovely trip.

    Have fun.
My parents lived in Connecticut for a couple of years, moving back to the UK just before I was born - they have plenty of ideas of places for us to visit!!

Apart from driving from Pennsylvania to Vermont one winter to go skiing, and from Pennsylvania up to Toronto for relatives when we lived there, I've not been to New England before. Really looking forward to it - unfortunately (assuming I'm in contract) it means that I now only have three days opportunity to work in a four week period, but that's why I work for myself

Waiting for the guide books to arrive to look for some places to go - spent last night looking at ferry crossings to Martha's Vineyard as it seems crazy not to go when we are there!

Lovely place, reliable weather, empty beaches.

I guess it depends what your into, viewing cityscapes, lying on a beach, exploring.

Then the Rockies are a good alternative to combine with Vancouver.

10 hour flight, although Vancouver is one of the best places I have ever been to. Jericho Beach amazing views of the city, Stanley Park Black Squirrels and city skiing on Grouse and Seymour. Top place.

What about a left field trip to Newfoundland, or New Brunswick?

    Iceland? Plenty, plenty fun.

    Palermo (Sicily)?

    Cape Verde?

Vancouver + Okanagan wineries or Vancouver Island is manageable in 1 week.

    Or Bridgwater.

At the moment it's looking somewhere like NYC - I wanted to go to Washington DC again, but that's been vetoed because there's "not much to do there" (WTF???) If we hadn't been to Alabama last summer, we'd probably head there again for a week, but I don't fancy it so soon.
