As I think you are in Germany where it's currently very chilly, don't put boiling water anywhere near it, as when the water cools down you will end up with a block of ice that remains there until it warms up again. You could try some sort of chemical de icer or the key heating trick.

Have you considered a flamethrower? Most good Army Surplus stores will have them, and they are also good for discouraging vandals too.

That trick worked for Mini door locks in the days when they were external.
Didn't work on cars where the lock was inside the door though. The cig lighter trick worked on that Beemer I had many years ago,.Last edited by Sysman; 2 February 2012, 19:44.
