    As I think you are in Germany where it's currently very chilly, don't put boiling water anywhere near it, as when the water cools down you will end up with a block of ice that remains there until it warms up again. You could try some sort of chemical de icer or the key heating trick.

    It can be hard to find a kettle when you have just spent the day going up and down a mountain and there's nobody else about...

    That trick worked for Mini door locks in the days when they were external.

    Didn't work on cars where the lock was inside the door though. The cig lighter trick worked on that Beemer I had many years ago,.
