    Bleh, the pud is too rich already - I find brandy butter or white sauce with booze in is just too much. A white sauce or custard nicely complement the richness IMO.

    My mum does the Christmas pudding at least a year in advance, to give it time to soak some of the alcohol in.

    MrsF's lasagne is nicer after a day to mature as well.

    I always make my chilli, bolog and curries a day before - tastes much better.

    Mrs BP has just made xmas pudding - for Christmas 2012. They need at least a year to mature.

    These days she often makes stews, curries and chillies a day early too. Some things need to mature. Unlike contractors who go off with age.

    Custard is vile. The only thing that makes me (I don't want to hear from people that say I haven't had the right one yet - I've tried quite a few)

    Have something you like rather than go for Christmas pud (cos you have to). Having said that, a pud with plenty of nuts, fruit, booze and a bit less lard is lovely. With a bit of cream.
