I politely declined saying that my rate was made clear from the start.

If the weather is the same as last year then the estimate for sales is £50,000 over 4 weeks for what I have in mind, could clear £15-£20k profit for the month, or get stuck with a garage of snow shovels and sledges for a few years.

it was close to home, paid well and an exact match for my specialist area.
I'm presently on my 35th contract. Smallest duration was 2 days longest 2 years. Had three running concurrently at one point this year, and since 1997 the longest I've been on the bench was six weeks and that was last year when I moved back from perm to contracting and re-invented myself. Now there is no shortage of work for my new skillset.
To be fair to Suityou, I think he's got his attitude & level of effort for getting contract work spot on.

- Ridiculous money to solve a nightmare for new client from a previous manager.
- To get more experience on a skill I wanted to know.
- Christmas spendies.
In none of those cases was I desperate. Two paid very well and the middle one gave me a skill that definitely allows me to stand out from the crowd.
Granted they are not the first contracts I look at but once in a while they do offer a bit of variety, a chance to refresh a skill set or simply stupid sums of money.
