Based on this information I definitely would be doing what OG said. It would serve the agency right.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostIt's an agency hiring for a consultancy who have an end Client. So two sets of commission.
I've not heard from the agency yet, but the consultancy just sent me a text saying it is good news and expect to hear from the agency soon.

I guess some of those high-flying businessmen prefer a more mature rent boy.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostGood man.
I regularly get asked to reduce my rate as it's at the higher end & I always reply the same - 'I've already reduced it especially for you as I liked the client and it was a 100% match to my skills. If someone wants to do it cheaper that's up to them, but remember you get what you pay for'

Good man.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostGot a call from the pimp this morning to say I have been short listed with one other (who is £30 per day cheaper) and could I match his rate?
I politely declined saying that my rate was made clear from the start.

When they come crawling back, say that you've had a better offer paying £40 per day more and can they match it.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostGot a call from the pimp this morning to say I have been short listed with one other (who is £30 per day cheaper) and could I match his rate?

I doubt you would be stuck with them for many years as some people expect it to get colder.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostPLan to be implemented. Need to wait another 4 weeks before making a call on the weather for the end of the year.
If the weather is the same as last year then the estimate for sales is £50,000 over 4 weeks for what I have in mind, could clear £15-£20k profit for the month, or get stuck with a garage of snow shovels and sledges for a few years.

WHS.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostHow do you work that out?
it was close to home, paid well and an exact match for my specialist area.
I'm presently on my 35th contract. Smallest duration was 2 days longest 2 years. Had three running concurrently at one point this year, and since 1997 the longest I've been on the bench was six weeks and that was last year when I moved back from perm to contracting and re-invented myself. Now there is no shortage of work for my new skillset.
To be fair to Suityou, I think he's got his attitude & level of effort for getting contract work spot on.

As SC says why do you say that? I've done a few for various reasons:-Originally posted by d000hg View Post4-week contract? You must be desperate.
- Ridiculous money to solve a nightmare for new client from a previous manager.
- To get more experience on a skill I wanted to know.
- Christmas spendies.
In none of those cases was I desperate. Two paid very well and the middle one gave me a skill that definitely allows me to stand out from the crowd.
Granted they are not the first contracts I look at but once in a while they do offer a bit of variety, a chance to refresh a skill set or simply stupid sums of money.
