I've been using LI to find people to contact for my plan B. I've noticed several interesting things. For instance you can send messages to people you share a group with, although it's not advertised, without using InMails.
Also, although indirect connections have the surname hidden, on a company page the updates about new people show the full name, and let you view their profile. Similarly the "people who viewed X also viewed ..."
Not sure if these are features or bugs. Any LI experts here?
