Someone with the wisdom of Solomon might have suggested that she be incarcerated with the corpse of her mother. Upon her release, if she had not arranged formal burial of her mother's remains in short order, then bang the two of them up again for a bit longer.

A TV actor and an artist? Are such people counted as "chavs" nowadays? I'd describe them as middle class.

Seems like they live in quite a nice area too.

It may not be fraud over a prolonged period, but still fraud. Money SHE WASNT entitled to, no matter whether it's done once or throughout a lifetime. Once a thief, always a thief ...

What I get worried over is newspaper articles about it. Gives chavs ideas! Remember at the start of 2011, that mother inventing extra kids for welfare? Same thing again in the papers this week.

Well, I was going to disagree with you until I read the actual report which said

    "
The court was told that she fraudulently obtained one payment of her dead mother's state pension of £176.92 and a single payment of pension credit of £34.44."

Which in truth, doesn't really show a systematic fraud. So I agree with you. Seems stupid in this case.
