I've just put a 'Wanted' ad on the local Freecycle site for an iPad 1. I've even offered to drive round and pick it up. Have I been too generous do you think?
Sad feckers have been queuing outside the Apple store in Manchester all day.

I am guessing (hoping) eBay will have a glut of 2nd-hand ones soon. I'm going on holiday in a few weeks but need to stay in email contact and would rather avoid lugging a laptop. I figure I could get a 2nd-hand iPad, use it for two weeks and then if I don't like it sell it on for little/no loss (or sell it and buy iPad2 if I really do like it).Originally posted by Pondlife View PostSo where can I source a nice cheap iPad 1 from since it's now old hat.

Isn't that cheating? Surely if one queues one should stand upright on hind legs, without the use of artificial props such as seats and sleeping bags? Else where would this stop? People taking tents, TVs and sofas, and even food and water? Or sleeping on the job? I've heard of cases of people queuing on behalf of others, or selling their position, and also of going off to do non-queuing stuff (e.g. toilet) and resuming their queuing once with their position still intact.Originally posted by teclo View PostThe queue outside the Glasgow apple store is getting quite long now. Lots of people waiting to get one. When I walked past it this morning there was a guy sitting on a camping seat in a sleeping bag. Pretty sad if you ask me, it's Glasgow ffs not California..

I know someone that bought the first one on its release in New York and flew back straight away and took it into the local Apple Store to show the staff.
What possesses these people to behave in such a pathetic manner?
