WBS. The Godfather trilogy are some of my all time favorite films and a lot of the strength of the second is the juxtaposing of Vito and Michael in the cuts between the two era's. Take that away and it loses it's impact and cohesion.

What is flippant organised crime?Originally posted by AtW View PostIt's a much more interesting movie if you happen to live in a country with serious organised crime...
And why can't we have seriously organised government?

I found The Godfather, much like Citizen Kane, was one of those films that leaves you scratching your head wondering what the fuss was about. I thought it was quite boring.
Never bothered with the sequels.

I used to have the re-edited version on video. It's good but I prefer the second part in its original form, where the story switches between the young Vito starting out and Michael becoming more and more ruthless in the present day. I think it works better than having it all in chronological order. The DVD's I've got now have gone back to the original 3 separate films so maybe the studio or Coppola agreed.

Have only watched the 3 originals. Reminded me of my upbringing in Glasgae. Did not learn to walk until I was 8 with all the bullets that were flying around...

The Godfather Trilogy
I'm starting to watch all 3 films, after recording them a few weeks back. It reminded me that a few years back, I was told about a special version which melded all 3 films into one chronological work. Looking on Wikipedia it seems this is real: The Godfather Saga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I wondered, has anyone seen both the 3 originals and the Saga/Trilogy reworkings?Tags: None
