Yikes, I didn't realise there was a global man-hunt going on for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who has gone into hiding. Everyone's after him and there's no sanctuary. He's even been framed accused of rape, although the US just wants to try him for being a spy. His mum is hiding too.

True, if they are going to go for the death penalty then the head if computer security and all below should be heading to the chair.

Do you think he's worried that something he's said will come out?

The timing and sequence of the information releases has clearly been more carefully co-ordinated this time, between WikiLeaks, the Guardian, et al. This is probably to ensure the story can me made to run for a few weeks with new revalations every day, thus selling more papers for the Guardian, and keeping Wikileaks in the public eye for as long as possible.

This interview with the founder is worth reading. There's a lot of information in there. He compares the upcoming release on a US bank (early next year) to the "Enron emails".

What i am interested in seeing is what the US diplomats were saying about their host governments during the build up to the Iraq war

They've got rubbish access management. How on earth did one man get hold of top secret documents covering a huge range of subjects?

    As for scandal and surprises?

The material includes a reference to Putin as an "alpha-dog" and Hamid Karzai as being "driven by paranoia", while Angela Merkel allegedly "avoids risk and is rarely creative". There is also a comparison between Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Adolf Hitler.
    My take on those?

Alpha male in a pack is exactly how Putin behaves. I think he will take it as a compliment that he is seen to have achieved that status.

If you are president of Afghanistan, it's not paranoia: everybody really is out to get you.

"avoids risk and is rarely creative" is probably high up on present-day Germans' job requirements for Chancellor.

As for Ahmadinejad, I will let History judge.
