Not much of a gamer, get the odd one I hook into e.g. Command and Conquer on PC some time back. Had exposure due to son having PS3. No real interest in many of the games except maybe when you are playing someone else which makes things interesting but COD 5 World at War just got me hooked and I thought it was brilliant. I found myself staring without blinking for what felt like hours with my heart racing as I worked through the levels - Not good when you can't shut off when you are trying to sleep. Especially like the sniper work.
MW2 - still good but bit too much going on for some levels, prefer the stealth stuff.

I got the latest medal of honour for my birthday - I don't think it's that good to be honest. I tend to use my PC for those types of games because I prefer the control mechanism. I hate that aiming with the joystick thing on the PS3 - mouse and keyboard is much better

Call Of Duty: Black Ops video game review - Telegraph

    ...suburb...
...The game also earns every ounce of its 18 rating with some particularly grisly violence...
I only scanned the review. Who really cares what some guy from the Telegraph thinks.

It is even, dare we say it, better than Modern Warfare 2.
Hmm, to buy MW2 next or skip straight to Black Ops? How do the CPU requirement advance with each release?

Ha, ha - same here but on the XBox.

Was going to jump straight onto the new one, Black Ops, but the supermarkets don't appear to be interested in having a price war this time so will do as you mention and go for COD MW2.

I'm getting on the PS3 but it peeves me right off that games are always so much more expensive than the PC version!

From observing Son's gaming habits there seem to be three distinct groups of players.

    1. The "with it" crowd. Only play a game long enough to max out on levels/acheivments/highscores etc. Move onto the next game as soon as it is released. Frequently change games as a group. One not having the latest game is seen as socially inferior. Usually found in "Game" trading in a game they paid £40 for a month previously for £10 discount on the one they are buying today.

    2. Regular gamers who pick things up when they get round to it. May buy a game at release but only if it has specific appeal (Fans of the Final Fantasy games being a classic example). Will continue playing a game while they enjoy it, usually frequent the same server for online games and get to know the other regulars. Generally stop playing due to pressure of life or simple boredom.

    3. Die hard players who refuse to play anything but their chosen game. Usually found playing Unreal Tournament in a dusty corner of the internet.

It's interesting that these blockbuster titles are UK produced, and quite odd to hear English accents. Presumably it sells well in America, if not Afghanistan?

G for throwing back to grenades is a long way when you only have a split second to do it and accounts for most of my kills. Maybe I'll change 'throw back grenade' to ? come to think of it, as it's a lot closer to the arrow keys.
I never played it on the PC, I might try it, I just got a new PC quadcore with 12GB RAM and decent GPU, so should run well.
