Calcutta too, 1989, the "rat boy" was a tourist attraction.....he used to get down on his hands and knees, put food in his mouth and bang on the side of a wooden building...........Originally posted by shaunbhoy View PostCalcutta. Got stuck in a traffic jam by a rail crossing. Turns out someone had fallen from the side of a train and been mangled under the wheels. The hold-up was whilst they moved the various grisly bits to the trackside. Yeeuurgghh!

1000s of rats then appeared, from underneath the building, that then took food from his mouth

And if you don't make it back, even better.Originally posted by Uncle Albert View PostUnless there's more to do on Easter Island than there was in the late 1980's, I wouldn't stay more than a couple of days.
I liked Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina. Paraguay and Bolivia less so though La Paz was OK. If you can make it to the Galapagos, do.

I did the Inca Trail in 2014. Highly recommend, but you need to get reasonably fit. (The quarry trail is supposed to be just a good, and a lot less busy).
If you book with Intrepid, you can pay with Tesco vouchers - they often do a 4x deal.
Stuff that, they can winch me up.
