    IIRC Easter mostly consisted of church Thursday, again more church twice on Friday (also mostly fasting on Friday), Saturday (3 hours of mass) and Church twice on the Sunday.

    Though my mother wasn't a big fan of vatican II

    Amongst the wealth of things to see do try and see Titians assumption in Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. Go when it's quiet if possible and try walking round the Basilica whilst looking at it as it was designed to be viewed from many angles. Also note the triple level of the painting ie earth, the virgin being assumed, heaven with god the father waiting. This is an extension of the technique used by Raphael in his Transfiguration.

    Note:- Because of Mary's holiness she doesn't have to wait until judgement day to go to heaven instead is is assumed into heaven upon her death.
