My mother gets a decent bunch of flowers. She's got enough crap already, and I can't afford to buy her a nicer house (what she really wants)

To somebody elses Mother of course, where do you think it all came from to begin withOriginally posted by Mich the Tester View Post
Pinot Noirs and Nebbiolos.
But you do have a point. But if I inherit her fortune, where will I sell all the crap she owns? I’d have to start by inviting the antiques roadshow or cash in the attic and letting that orange bloke value all the kitsch crockery and bland paintings, then I’d have to hold a giant car boot sale to get rid of all the insipid crap she calls music and then I’d still be stuck trying to sell a twee little cottage with overfussed rosebeds.

Look at it another way, buy her a present to increase your chance of inheriting her fortune. Than YOU can retire in comfort, drinking Cab Sauv, listening to heavy metal on your iPod

You're supposed to show some gratitude for her being your mother!Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostI see some similarity here. The English middle class retired baby boom lady who spends half her time shopping with her 90% final salary university professor pension and the other half lazing on a beach reading the Daily Wail, drinking chardonnay with Cliff on the i-pod, owns a collection of posh handbags and watches, has ten wardrobes full of shoes, an open top sports car and two cats, but whinges when people who have less don’t buy her a mother’s day present.

My mum is getting a card. FFS, she is on holiday in Antigua at the moment, while I'm stuck looking for a job - she can get herself a present!!

The girls have been busy doing things at school for mothers day - no idea what they are, but I need to remember to take a bag up to school tomorrow to collect them so MrsF doesn't see what they are.Originally posted by Pogle View PostI love all the home made stuff she does for Mothers day
I'm guessing a photo of DD2 in a paper frame that she has decorated herself. No idea what DD1 will be doing - last year it was a picture that she had drawn in a proper frame. MrsF is not expecting anything else, so no need to contemplate such things.

according to Mrs OPM the best present is a bunch of slight squashed daffoldils delivered with a sloppy kiss from a snotty 4 year old at 6.30 in the morning.
but your views may differ.....

I think mother’s day was invented to embarrass men. There’s no way I can possibly know what kind of present my mother wants, because;
1 I am not a woman and don’t care about handbags, hair care products or Cliff Richard
2 My mother has everything anyway
3 My mother is 27 years older than me, always has been and always will be, and I don’t know what old people like
4 My mother reads the Daily Wail so her psychology is a mystery to me
5 I don’t live with my mother and I don’t go over to Britain often enough to know what kind of womanny materialist crap she’s bought since I last saw her
I propose to send Mother’s Day to Room 101.

Nah I wasn't interested in guides or Brownies either, - but Pogle jr really enjoys it, all her friends go too.Originally posted by MaryPoppins View PostBrownies! That's still going on? I got kicked out of the Brownies, never made it to the badges, let alone Girl Guides.
it wont be long before you're getting a slightly soggy homemade card and a half eaten kitkat for Mothers Day!

of course when she's too old for homemade I'll be expecting something decent
