because SOME OTHER BASTARD has been drinking from it.
And...... and probably drank more than half but decided you'd notice so spat some back so it only looked like half.....and probably after giving some minger a blowjob.
Be a pessimist. Do it properly.
Then you can only be pleasantly surprised.

Look here SD, how many times must I point this out to you idiotic optimists? Your glass is NOT half full, it is half empty and it is half empty because SOME OTHER BASTARD has been drinking from it. I HATE positive attitudes. I am beginning to suspect you are not English.
Went to a formal Xmas party last night. Started with Curling, but just as I was getting the hang of it we stopped and went to a posh restaurant. There were lots of courses to the meal, but all small and the waitress was slow at refilling my glasses. Afterwards we went to some guys recording studio and listened to his latest discoveries efforts, consensus was it didn't feel commercial enough to be a success, I disagreed. Then the weed came out, but only one at a time. As I don't partake of such things I found the giggling, although infectious, a little tiresome. Got a taxi home whereupon the taxi driver started to argue about the address of my house. He could not understand his fancy hi tech navigator was wrong, later noticed, on looking out of the window, he was stopped where a junction with a non existant road is shown on such gadgets. Tut.
Would scribble more, but one of the lights in the kitchen is faulty and causing a noise on the radio, interupting my pleasure of the BBC World Service. Why do they insist on doing football reports using a limited bandwidth? Not that I was particularly interested in listening to what they were saying. Football being a proles game afterall.
I really dislike miserable negative people, I have a couple on my present project, whatever anyone says whatever happens they are just not happy, they always look at the dark side of any situation, and their glass is always half empty - you know the people who can't see the doughnut just the whole -
every time I speak to these people I feel slightly drained and my positive energy slightly tarnished with their pessimism...
Every time a decision has to be made (usually by me - it seems my role now entails being a decision conduit for the higher management ) it just takes forever to convince them to accept the decision, even they are the ones who were screaming for that decision to be made and even if the decision is in their advantage, they just object and argue for the sake of it...
They sound like a typical group of IT engineers to me. Maybe a bit more upbeat and extrovert than the average dysfunctional depressed IT professional. Enjoy it while it lasts. The next group won't be so much fun.

Mmm are your knickers half way up or half way down ? And what if the doughnut is a jam doughnut, and there is no ring. You really need to think things through before spurting out on here. This is a place for reasoned logical debate and Christian worship, not a Krispy Kreme doughnut bar.
I've got a half of the Lancaster hotel hired out for a big "End of new liebour" party. Problem is, I can't get enough proud working class waiters as they are all on incapacity benefits. We might have to hire some Eastern Europeans that have an ingrained sense of working culture.
