In the meantime I'm giong to be quite busy looking for contracts, updating my website, creating online tutorials for my website, creating service management templates, adding a value-added presence to LinkedIn, contributing to CUK <cough>

First Monday Back? Some Links to Ease the Transition...
Back in the office? Bummer isn't it
From the bench, I send you links to some places where you can waste time reading interesting stuff (for certain values of "interesting") before facing the hideous software rot that set in over the holiday period:
- How to make gingerbread houses that perch on the rim of your mug - "I found that a 3/8ths inch door fits most mugs but the 1/2 inch can be used for your really big and heavy mugs."
- 2009's Best Media Errors and Corrections - "An item in the National Briefing in Sunday’s Section A said a bear wandered into a grocery story in Hayward, Wis., on Friday and headed for the beer cooler. It was Thursday."
- Best astronomy photos of 2009 - WTS
- Dilbert Strip Finder - a text search engine for Dilbert comic strips
- US Police crime reports, searchable by location - "NOW featuring Sex Offender Data for all 50 States!"
- How Motorways Work - the link you wish you could send to all those other twonks cluttering up the carriageway
- The Sub-Prime Primer - the whole stinking mess explained in 45 crappily-drawn cartoons
- The Infinitely Profitable Program - a program for CP/M that was zero bytes long and sold for $5... and was useful
- The Known Universe - requires YouTube access, and I think I posted this one in another thread over Christmas; but it's good
- The Existential Flame War - eerily similar to General in a meta kind of way
That should be enough to get you through the first day back. You can do some work tomorrow - How to make gingerbread houses that perch on the rim of your mug - "I found that a 3/8ths inch door fits most mugs but the 1/2 inch can be used for your really big and heavy mugs."
