And just make sure that everything about your company is sorted before you advertise, unlike some incompetents...

Indeed well done for making it work, I remember the thread where you described the business and I'm glad it's working out.Originally posted by RichardCranium View PostWell done for working on your Plan B.
Well done for having the balls to give us the link on here and let us rip it up.
Well done for not getting upset when we rip it up!
As to the ripping to bits and suggestions could you find a more competant bunch to help improve a new website than a load of developers, coders, testers and PM's to show up the issues so they can be fixed?
I agree with the various comments posted and continue to wish you luck with the business.

Nice one Gooner. I'd forgotten you were local to me.
I may well dig out my negatives and get them sent over to you.

Maybe soon you will never have to deal with an agency ever again.

thanks guys, the istock photos are for demos, I'll get 'real' photos done as soon as I can.
re word press, logo clicking, will get all these sorted.
The new site will have the office address and also a 'real' phone number.
I will also update the easyslidescanning site to show the office address and a real phone number, but need to get a second line install for this as I need to distinguish between the two sites for when customers called. (we're keeping both sites running)
statcounter is working well for us, although we also use a click and chat package which give us real time stats.
The customer comments are real comments. But yes should have correct spelling.
Thanks for the comments, I'll let you all know when the new site is up and running.

www.digiscanltd.com
http://www.digiscanltd.com/ just says "Coming Soon!" - is that intentional?Originally posted by n5gooner View Postthank you I'll let you know, what are your first impressions though ?
Having given that 01372 telephone number, you may as well provide your postal address (it is a trivial matter to get from one to the other anyway).
On the address form, the Postcode is before the City. Why "City" and not "address line 2"? Also, can you get the country to default to UK?
I created an order and got "Your order has been successfully processed! Your products will arrive at their destination within 2-5 working days" but I had selected payment by cheque.
In the process of placing that order, I don't remember being told where to send my slides.
I take it all those "stockphoto" watermarks will be disappearing?
The link in "Prior to scanning we will prepare your slides using our unique 5-step cleansing process. Click here if you would like to know more about this" does not work as intended. That is worrying (wire brush & Dettol?)
Xenu's Link Sleuth tells me you have at least 4 broken links:

I - and many others - would be loathe to do business with an online firm that gives out no address.

Nice site, clean and uncluttered.
There's an inconsistency in the right sidebar - the mouse works over the main images but you need to click on the text rather than the image in the sidebar.
The logo doesn't respond to the mouse - on most sites clicking on the logo takes you to the home page and it's a handy shortcut to have.
I'd not have the blog as ./wordpress - call it ./blog or something else instead. There's no point advertising to the script kiddies what you are running.
Tested on OS X 10.5.8 PPC using
Safari 4.04
Firefox 3.5.6
Opera 10.10
I assume you are planning on not having the urls ending in .php in the live version; it would look cleaner without those.Last edited by Sysman; 3 January 2010, 19:15.

www.easyslidescanning.co.uk
Edit: I wrote the following, then realised I'd reviewed the wrong web site!Originally posted by n5gooner View Postthank you I'll let you know, what are your first impressions though ?
Have someone competent spell check those pages.
Trying to access www.easyslidescanning.co.uk redirects to the .com version yet the .com version says "...co.uk" at the top left.I just had to let you know how trilled I am with the digital images of my old photos. I spent 2 hours watching them on the TV with the children, I then loaded them on to my pc and “hay presto”
You are giving out a .co.uk email address on a .com web site which looks like an odd inconsistency.
I see you are using statcounter.com - is that working OK for you?
I have an 0845 number; it is amazing how many people think it is a premium rate number and won't use it. Can you offer your landline number too? It also adds credibility since the address you give is a PO Box address. Actually, I would never post stuff I own to a PO Box address - this will lose you customers.

Nice and clean.Originally posted by n5gooner View Postthank you I'll let you know, what are your first impressions though ?
You need to stick alt tags on your images (you've used images to describe some of your services - your phone number at the top is contained in an image)
Stick margins on the text in column 2
Don't use the words 'click here' as a link
On the contact form the continue link should be a nice obvious Send Mail (or similar) button
You should have a general email address that people can contact without using a form (a pain for you, I know
)
