    I once worked for a well known company who had a pre-op transexual working there. He couldn't stop himself from opening doors for ladies, which was quite charming but he never had the favour returned by the blokes.     One of the most difficult distances to judge is the distance beyond which you don't need to hold the door open for someone.

    Five step rule applies.

    If they're not going to reach the door within 5 steps you shouldn't hold it open. Unless;
    a) they're cute
    b) they have bags etc
