For a start, it seems like they have "de-bloated" Windows, no doubt because of the influence of Mobile Windows. But then as I am using a top-spec PC, maybe their customary bloat is still there, more so than ever, but just less noticeable.

My main complaint is that unbelievably Adobe _still_ haven't released a proper 64-bit Flash player, and I can't be arsed to keep dipping in and out of 32-bit Internet Explorer (especially when I far prefer Firefox).

It's a real irritation and almost equally baffling. I mean what are Adobe playing at? How hard can it be to tweak and recompile their poxy Flash player for 64-bit ?!

    Run 32-bit Firefox then. Simples.

They've done it for Linux too, so it's not like they don't have x64 compatible code. They just haven't built it for Windows.

    I find Linux very trying.

For all its foibles and security holes, at least Windows just works (most of the time).

Windows 7 has been introduced after Microsoft admitted its Vista operating system was a 'less good product' in what IT experts have described as the most ambitious understatement since the captain of the Titanic reported some slightly damp tablecloths.

IT consultant, Charlie Reeves, added: "Vista was 'less good' in the same way being tortured for three months in Abu Ghraib is 'less good' than a Belgian three-way with Scarlett Johansson and Lindsay Lohan."

Meanwhile first year student Nathan Muir said: "My degree involves desktop publishing, spreadsheets and multimedia presentations, so I'm really looking forward to a hopeless series of meaningless error messages before crying myself to sleep every night."
