Update:
Had a change of mind on Haskell (can't teach an old dog new tricks etc) and downloaded Python and bought a Python book (thanks for the recommendation NickFitz!).
Python looks incredibly high level. But I won't start the back-in-my day spiel.

Bump up your SQL skills and then play with Integration Services (DTS). It's great, you get to play with little boxes and theres tons of different ones and you get to join them up with little lines that you drag everywhere and then they all go pretty colours when you run it.
And the kicker is that it pays really well.

Which version? It's changed quite a bit since the 0.whatever days, primarily through being used for large projects. When I was working at Capital Radio last year we committed quite a few fundamental changes ourselves, based on weak or awkward points we found, or places where it wasn't able to cope well for whatever reason.Originally posted by bogeyman View PostI know you're serious sort of chap, but honestly, Django is abysmal for large projects IMHO. Stupefyingly awful.
In particular it had trouble with the fact that we were looking at using it to manage sites for about fifty local radio stations, each with their own branding and content yet with some stuff shared across several or all sites (e.g. videos), and the problems we encountered along the way led to quite a bit of development on the core structure of the framework, the whole way configurations (both per-site and per-app) are implemented, and some aspects of the general structure of the admin app.
We did have one of the lead Django devs on the team (hi Simon
), which helped in getting stuff committed to the core project quickly
