I know you're serious sort of chap, but honestly, Django is abysmal for large projects IMHO. Stupefyingly awful.
You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

Which version? It's changed quite a bit since the 0.whatever days, primarily through being used for large projects. When I was working at Capital Radio last year we committed quite a few fundamental changes ourselves, based on weak or awkward points we found, or places where it wasn't able to cope well for whatever reason.Originally posted by bogeyman View PostI know you're serious sort of chap, but honestly, Django is abysmal for large projects IMHO. In particular it had trouble with the fact that we were looking at using it to manage sites for about fifty local radio stations, each with their own branding and content yet with some stuff shared across several or all sites (e.g. videos), and the problems we encountered along the way led to quite a bit of development on the core structure of the framework, the whole way configurations (both per-site and per-app) are implemented, and some aspects of the general structure of the admin app.
We did have one of the lead Django devs on the team (hi Simon
), which helped in getting stuff committed to the core project quickly
