By the way there has been some horrific abuse of joke XML tags on this thread. Joke XML tag names cannot contain whitespace, and must be closed by a matching tag, or it's just not funny.

Well you got me. Fairs fair.
When you see me next, give me a swift slap to the back of my head, particularly if I'm not expecting it. I deserve it.

Of course an experienced Service Management consultant would help and train them to get the most out of Service Management.... (part of which would be ITIL...)

That young person* has got far too much work to do unless they're running Cojak's IT infrastructure of 1 SOHO network, one desktop and 2 PCs...

*because no-one older would be daft enough to agree to it...

Although on re-reading your post I might have misunderstood your question.

How big is your team? How established are your processes? How experienced are your people?

You can assign anything to anyone provided they have a clear understanding of what each role entails.

But usually I would have problem separated from incident management.

In fact I would have problem separated from anything.

I like my Problem Managers to have thick skins as they'll probably be arguing with Incident Managers and Change Managers (and most other people) at some point during the day/week/year...
