You see tons of nasty-looking knocks in football, and I'm sure many players are covered in bruises... two people both committed to getting the ball sprinting at it from opposite directions is common.
Not the same as rugby of course. But it's not supposed to be

I'd say it's a key element of all sport, even if a lot of it is really childish when it's exposed. Sports people like winning and hate losing, and they'll do pretty much anything to give themselves an advantage.
I'm more taking the piss out of rugby, pride comes before a fall, people in glass houses etc etc. They've gave us tulip about this aspect of football for as long as I can remember, it's only right to dish it back ...
