Since when does the M1 go to Bradford from Birmingham?

It never has, the nearest it gets to Birmingham is Nottingham northish route (M42 & A42) and Leicester southish route(M6 & M69).

I'd go M6 & M62 (or some variation round Manchester) onto the M62 unless I started very much East Brum.

No real sympathy I'm afraid, while I'm guilty of speeding from time to time I'm certain that my licence and my other docs are in order as it would be an invitation for them to chuck the book at me if they weren't.
Daveb summed it up well, significant points with a ban and a large fine are to be expected and time in one of Her Majesties Houses for Naughty People could be on the cards too.

I might take the M6 if I wanted to miss a meeting.

Yup - he'll have to get a provisional licence and take both the theory and practical tests; six points within two years is the same as if you'd never passed at all

10 years ago, 1999 - (18 years old). order of events:

1. Got license, passed first time (Schumacher!!)
2. Finished Degree
3. First job, London -
4. drove back home on the Millennium new years eve. Was working long hard hours to build software for the year 2000 bug
5. had BIG accident, car had to be cut open, expecting not a moving person
6. police prosecute me, dangerous driving and due car - get 6 points in court.
7. failed to send license back, due to asking for changes to photo card license - so they revoke it....

Because insurance companies don't check in that much detail. All they care about is previous claims. They will happily take your money and then tell you

"Oh, sorry, looks like your policy is invalid as you didnt tell us you had no licence / had previous claims or convictions you didnt tell us about / were'nt entirely honest in your application."

then keep the cash and refuse to pay any claims.

Plus a fine of up to £2500 and a possible ban for the speeding.

Plus 3-6 points and up to £1000 fine and possible ban for not having a valid licence.

Plus 6-8 points and up to £5000 fine and possible ban for driving while uninsured.

At a minimum I would say you are going to end up with 12-15 points on your licence, which means a minimum 6 month ban.

I would also say you are going to have a very hard time defending yourself.

You got caught speeding and you admit it.

You have a legal obligation to inform DVLA whenever your details change and ensure your licence is up to date and valid. You didn't.

You either didnt read your insurance policy properly or you ignored the bit that says you are only insured to drive other vehicles *that you do not own*. Either way, you were not insured.

With all of these factors, and a tulip brief, you might be looking at some time to reflect on your actions.
