I did read childrens books as a child, but like I said, Adults getting into child like activities is indicative of the rise of the Kidult and the blameless society IMHO. The only treatment is a slap with a wet Kipper.

Yeah, I've seen a girl who rustles popcorn and farts loudly.Originally posted by Pogle View PostSaw it on Saturday, at IMAX, I didn't realise the first 10 mins were in 3D - rather marvellous to behold.
The CGI was seamless and the sets and the look of it was excellent.
Enjoyed it, but a bit of an anti climax for me I'm afraid.
I was distracted a little by the girl sat next to me, who spent the whole film rustling popcorn and farting loudly (no it wasn't Pogle Jr)
Anyone else seen it?
We're all looking forward to G-Force next

Exactly.... it's all about personal taste. A lot of people like Pratchett and I have to say I'd rather gouge my own eyes out with a spoon that read that drivel... but it's a personal choice.Originally posted by Peoplesoft bloke View PostWould rather set fire to my own face than experience any Harry Potter or LOTR but if that's what floats your boat fair enough.
Edit : to answer the "how do you know" - was subjected to HP by ex wife and tried reading LOTR - just doesn't appeal.

Hold on, a priest banning the Bible?Originally posted by Pogle View PostHmm that explains a lot - One of his sons was the priest at my school - Father Tolkien - and he banned his fathers books from the school library. To this day I've never read the hobbit. I've read LOTR several times though
Rock on!

They'll have been teenagers by this point.
+1 on the books for kids. A good story is a good story, does it matter who it's aimed at?
Personal fave author is Dr Seuss. Says it all really
