If the SNP, PC, LibDem and Con get together to support the motion (and whip the living crap out of it) they still wouldn't win it as Labour have a majority of
63.
What's necessary is for:
1. 64 Labour MPs to vote against the party (esp if they know that they're ****ed in a GE)
2. Complete loyalty from all opposition parties to the cause
Unfortunately, I wouldn't put it past the current government to either engineer a problem or in some other way to prevent acting on the settled will of the House.
As Cromwell said, "In the name of God, go!"

I'm in France at the moment and Smith is the second story on their news, right after the missing plane. As I don't do their lingo I'm guessing that it's linked to the expenses as they keep wheeling out that footage of her husband accounting for his grumble vids
So that means that the poor sod can't go to France without having to face the shame of everybody knowing he married Jaqui Smith. At least they might lend him a few pornos though.
He's one person that I know does it from behind with his eyes shut trying to picture the pay per veiw ladies rather hans have to face Jaqui Smith!

I was thinking that Cameron would abstain. However, if he did they would throw hope of winning the next election away.Originally posted by bogeyman View PostRumour has it that the Conservatives and Lib Dems will support this.
Could it be that the end draweth nigh for Grim Gordon and his hoards?
Before we get our hopes up, don't forget what a sneaky, conniving, defensive bastard Brown is. I'm sure he as contingency plans for this kind of eventuality.
The snot goblin will still win the vote.
If he doesn't then expect some 'terrorist' or other incident so that he can invoke the civil contingencies act.

It's coming to a parlous state of affairs when our elections are almost as trustworthy as the Zimbabweans.

Yes, I thought about that, but given the situation, dare they risk such a blatant vote-rigging strategy?Originally posted by Menelaus View PostAgreed Bogey, although I think that the following may happen:
1. Stuffed ballot boxes
2. Mysteriously high number of postal votes - esp in certain ethnicities
3. A plea to wait until Monday when the European election results are known
Truth be told however, the sooner this shower get out the better for us all.
It could blow up in their faces and they could find themselves in jail this time (the party workers mind you, not the great and good).
I am of a mind that all UK elections should be monitored by outside observers for the foreseeable future.

It was always ridiculous that someone like that was doing anything more demanding than flipping burgers in the first place.

Agreed Bogey, although I think that the following may happen:Originally posted by bogeyman View PostCould be.
I think there is a mood in the house/country to force dissolution.
Thursday's results will last straw for Labour.

No Chance. most MP's are Labour and most will lose their seats so there will not be an election simply because turkeys don't vote for Christmas. Self serving w@nkers - MP's not turkeysOriginally posted by HairyArsedBloke View PostIf you listen closely, you can still hear the screams .....

Do they (as in elected MPs) keep the allocated police protection unit attached after they have stood down or lost their seats?Originally posted by Bunk View PostSky News are reporting that she's going to resign. She'd very probably have been kicked out when Gordo reshuffles the cabinet so it looks like she's jumping before she's pushed.

Adams the wise did say something like it:
The major problem — one of the major problems, for there are several — one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.

Oh what the hell, let's just blame Gordo for everything. YMMV, truth and logic are optional extras.
He did not push for an invite for the Queen when it was his duty as PM to do so. Protocol does not allow the Queen to invite herself. He is an incompetent fool and at least most Labour supporters are gradually realising this after 12 years !!
